8-7-2021 A rough morning
(Marilyn)
I arrived around 9:00 and she was dressed and in her wheelchair. She immediately wanted me to get her out of the wheelchair and in her bed. I asked the nurse and she said that Linda had just been put in the chair. She said that Linda has a bed sore and needed to spend less time in bed and more time in the chair because they don't want the sore to get infected. Linda wanted no part of that. She was begging me to get her into the bed. I was told that she was scheduled for physical therapy so I shouldn't let her get into bed.
She said, over and over, "That's not doable." She was holding her head and saying she was in lots of pain. I asked her where the pain was and she pointed to her right side, from waist to knee (maybe sciatica?). She started moaning in pain. I got the nurse and the nurse said that since Linda is allergic to all pain medications, there really wasn't anything they could do. Linda kept saying, "I can't do this, I can't do this," but she couldn't tell me what she was talking about.
She kept trying to remove the feeding tube from her stomach and when I told her not to do that, she said, "Well, I don't want to take it home with me." Then she looked at me and said, "Is Marilyn coming back?" I said, "You're looking at her." She said, "No, is Marilyn coming back?" I said I'm Marilyn and she got that exasperated look on her face and dropped the subject.
She continued to beg to be able to get in the bed so I got Tyler (the big burly PT guy) and he told her he would get her into bed if she would let him get her standing up and then use the walker to get to the bed. He had a difficult time getting her to stand and she had a horrible time lifting her feet but with Tyler, she was able to kind of shuffle to the bed. She could sit on the bed but couldn't swing her legs up, so Tyler picked her up like she was a feather and got her situated in the bed. The moment her head hit the pillow she was sound asleep. And I took that opportunity to tiptoe out again.
Tricia will post later but she says that Linda was very lucid last night. So Tricia is wondering if it is possibly either a product of whether or not Linda is exhausted, or maybe even the Depakote that she is taking. And the hypothyroidism is probably causing some issues. It is obvious when you read these blogs that Tricia's experience in the evenings is much different than my experience in the mornings.
PS: There is now another patient in the room across from Linda who is also a screamer but she yells "Hello? Hello?" And it gets louder and louder. So the nurses brought her out into the hall so they could respond to her quicker. But in the hall she kept yelling, "I don't know who I am, so if any of you know who I am, would you tell me?" Never a dull moment....
