7-10-2022 Just checking in...

Tricia's posts pretty much say it all.  I haven't been over to see Linda much because of the whole COVID thing. But I work on my own health. Several doctor appointments, etc.

 Interestingly, I used to type 125 words a minute, but Parkinson's has pretty much knocked the heck out of my typing.  Good thing I'm not job hunting.  

Anyway, during my visits with Linda, we watched old movies -- something we always loved to do together, and it felt so normal.  She is proving to be very interesting.

8-4-2021 Today wasn't as good as yesterday

(Marilyn - AM) I didn't go yesterday because I joined a Parkinson's support group and my first meeting was yesterday.  Then I had a chiropractor appointment because my back is killing me.  But Tricia was there yesterday and it was a phenomenal day, full of hope. I arrived today around 10:00 expecting to be thrilled with Linda's progress, and when I went in Linda's room she was dressed and in her wheelchair.  When she saw me, she said, "Oh good, you're here.  Did you bring a car?"  I asked her why and she said, "You're going to get me out of here and we need a car."  I explained that we weren't going anywhere and she didn't like that answer.   Nothing she said today was understandable and by noon she was slumped over in the wheelchair and not talking. They have removed her catheter and the feeding tube is being attached and unattached to kind of wean her from it and get her eating food more and more.  She says she has to go to the bath...

6-20-2022 ED HAS COVID!

 (Marilyn) I was visiting with Linda this morning, with the nurse, and Ed came home and announced he just tested positive for COVID.  The nurse and I left the house immediately.  Tricia went around cleaning doorknobs and handles with alcohol wipes while Ed waited outside.  When Tricia got everything she thought she would need from the bedroom, Ed came in and he is now self-quarantining.  Tricia has some of the home testing kits so she can test herself and Linda.  I'm going to call my doctor to see what, if anything, I should do. The hospice people say "we do not do Covid."  So now Tricia has to take care of Linda by herself.  At least there was a routine in place so if Linda can avoid the diarrhea it won't be as bad as it could be.(Easy for me to say....) We have covered the gamut of things that can go wrong, don't you think? I will report more later today or tomorrow.

1-13-2022. I visited Linda today

 (Marilyn) I drove over to Missouri Baptist today to visit Linda.  First I went to NHC to get her some clean clothes along with her glasses.   When I got to MoBap, Linda was sleeping so I sat there and read a book for a while.  Eventually she opened her eyes and she didn't recognize me.  That was to be expected since they had given her some oxycontin for pain.  We chatted for a little while and she is scared to death about the prospect of surgery.  I feel so bad for her.  The nurse came and told me that MoBap only allows one visitor a day so Tricia and Ed and I couldn't even switch off during the day.  So for the next few days it looks like the only person by Linda's side will be Tricia because Tricia is Linda's Guardian.   Stay tuned for more updates.  Not sure how long they will keep her after surgery.
